The Buffalo News - Eastern SuburbsHearings set on claims by atomic energy workers12/11/2004Two local hearings on a controversial audit of an atomic energy workers compensation program will be held Jan. 12 at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel at the Walden Galleria, according to the office of Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y. The hearings will give local claimants a chance to question federal officials about the audit into the formulas that will ultimately determine whether Bethlehem Steel claimants are successful under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation program. The times of the hearings are not set, although the afternoon session will be for union leaders and officials of worker advocacy groups, and the evening session will be open to the general public. The audit will be released Monday and Tuesday at a hearing in Livermore, Calif., conducted by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. Copyright 1999 - 2004 - The Buffalo News |
